Turnpike Hill Trust is run by volunteer Managing Trustees who are proprietors and usually resident on the estate. The current Trustees are:
Somi Malik - Chair
Mick Montgomery (Deputy Chair)
An Assistant Director of Purchasing with multiple years of experience in Finance and Procurement, I have managed many high value projects obtaining optimum value for money. I have lived and owned properties on the estate in both Turnpike Link and Leyburn Gardens for over 25 years. Since becoming Chair in my second spell as a Managing Trustee (having served previously in the 2000’s) I have:
I was a Trustee in the early 2000’s and returned to the board at the beginning of 2014, I have lived on the estate since 1988 and I am a Director of a Freehold Company on the estate. I bring to the Turnpike Hill Trust my many years’ of experience in accountancy, systems implementation, training and consultancy. For over 15 years I ran my own consultancy firm and now manage the project/client management and financial systems for a multi-national environmental consultancy.
I’m a retired telecoms engineer who joined the Board in 2013 as a co-opted trustee, I bring experience from my working life and have been a proprietor for over fifteen years. I have a hands-on approach to problem solving and utilise my practical skills to help save costs wherever possible.
I am a journalist and broadcaster, and I have been living in Turnpike Link for over 18 years. I have seen our community going through good and challenging times and I would like to give something back to make things better. I was part of the Lighting sub-committee that recommended and helped to improve our estates lighting.
Deep is a Chartered Accountant with experience of over 20 years in public practice. He has lived on the estate for over a decade. Deep not only brings his experience to the Trust of helping organisations of various sizes (big and medium sized) with their accounting and finance but also of recommending improvements in their governance and controls. Deep has led a number of projects in his career leading teams of different sizes and brings excellent project management skills to the Trust.
I believe in clear vision, focused and defined objectives for an organisation, and I aid development of strategic plans to achieve the same. I work as part of a team, which is key to the functioning of the Trust. I believe in a supportive informal team atmosphere, listening to others and giving constructive feedback. I am equally comfortable with disagreements and respect diverse views. Financial Management is a very important activity and this should be channeled to accomplish the objective of the organisation. I believe I can contribute ably to budgeting and governing of income, expenses and assets. I respect confidentiality, and the need to adhere to the Trust’s code of conduct. I hope my commitment in the common interest of the owners of Turnpike link, Leyburn Gardens and Maybourne Grange will help me contribute positively in meeting the objectives of the Turnpike Hill Trust.
A qualified civil engineer with over 25 years of experience in both the private and public sectors, Tass brings excellent technical skills, management experience having led teams of over 200 people and category management experience of contracts. Tass has both lived and owned properties on the estate in both Turnpike Link and Leyburn Gardens for over 25 years. Locally, he has served as a School governor for the Park Hill Primary School Junior School where his three girls who grew up on the estate studied. Tass has a background in Finance & Audit and together with his excellent commercial skills provides resilience by adding value to the running of the estate and its contracts.
