Somi Malik (Chair)

BEng (Hons), MCIPS, Prince2

An Assistant Director of Purchasing with multiple years of experience in Finance and Procurement, I have managed many high value projects obtaining optimum value for money. I have lived and owned properties on the estate in both Turnpike Link and Leyburn Gardens for over 25 years. Since becoming Chair in my second spell as a Managing Trustee (having served previously in the 2000’s) I have:

  • Embarked on a continuing programme to modernise both the board and the estate
  • Helped enhance our Security by leading successfully on the lighting project in consultation with proprietors; negotiated free trials.
  • Liaised successfully with our MP, Councillors and Police to fight against undesirables
  • Helped pioneered initiatives on Fencing, CCTV and Gating
  • Managed our budget successfully against a challenging landscape of committed spend
  • Kept the garden rate at reasonable levels for the future by realising savings wherever possible e.g. Achieved ~£15k pa and ~£35k pa price reductions representing ~£150k savings over a triennial through change in Managing Agents and grounds contractors

Mick Montgomery
(Deputy Chair/Treasurer)

I was a Trustee in the early 2000’s and returned to the board at the beginning of 2014, I have lived on the estate since 1988 and I am a Director of a Freehold Company on the estate. I bring to the Turnpike Hill Trust my many years’ of experience in accountancy, systems implementation, training and consultancy. For over 15 years I ran my own consultancy firm and now manage the project/client management and financial systems for a multi-national environmental consultancy.

Christine Underwood

I have lived on Turnpike Link for over 35 years. I served as a co-opted Trustee for 11 months before the OGM in Oct 2009, when I was formally elected as a Trustee.

I have had the opportunity to observe the ‘work’ undertaken by the Trustees before and after the OGM the Trustees have pursued an even more proactive approach and programme. I have confidence in the current Trustees to work diligently on behalf of all proprietors.

We are endeavouring (with the help of our agents) to undertake the outstanding work necessary to return the estate to a good standard. We are reviewing all areas of concern including security and intend to make requisite improvements to improve the quality of life on our estate.

Steve Porter

I’m a retired telecoms engineer who joined the Board in 2013 as a co-opted trustee, I bring experience from my working life and have been a proprietor for over fifteen years. I have a hands-on approach to problem solving and utilise my practical skills to help save costs wherever possible.

Famil Ismailov

I am a journalist and broadcaster, and I have been living in Turnpike Link for over 18 years. I have seen our community going through good and challenging times and I would like to give something back to make things better. I was part of the Lighting sub-committee that recommended and helped to improve our estates lighting.

Muthia Nadarajah

I worked as a System Control Engineer with London Electricity Board from 1989. London Electricity was later run by EDF and I retired in 2003, but continued to work with EDF on contract terms till 2009 when I retired fully. I have been an owner in the estate for over 25 years. I bring my professional skills and practical experience of the residents view to the board.
